Let’s face it. The tightness of your vagina is often talked about throughout life. Even in school your choice to have sex or not may have been presented using things like chewed gum or tape. Once it’s used no one wants it, right? So does having sex really loosen your vagina permanently?
There’s actually been a lot of research done about this. There are real answers out there and we’re here to discuss the what’s true. We aren’t interested in myths, no matter how much someone out there is telling you they know it’s true. Does the vagina loosen after sex? Let’s talk about it.
Does Sex Loosen Your Vagina?
Let’s get the real answer out of the way first. NO! Frequent sex (or any amount of sex) does not make a woman’s vagina looser and less pleasurable for their partner. This is scientifically proven to be untrue over and over again.
Anyone telling you differently is plain wrong. They may try to convince you they’re right but be confident in your knowledge. Sex doesn’t permanently change anything about how tight your vagina is or stays.
During sex your vagina will loosen to make penetration more pleasurable and easier. This effect can last for an hour or two after sex but, again, it is not permanent. You can have as much sex as you want to have and you don’t need to worry about how tight you will be because of it.
It’s just not true ladies. Enjoy your sex life as much as you want to.

Does Childbirth Loosen Your Vagina?
After giving birth your vagina will need time to heal. During that time it will still be returning to its normal size. It might be fair to say that childbirth stretches or loosens the vagina. But this is temporary. Just like with sex, it will eventaully get back to where it used to be.
Remember after you give birth you do need to be kind to yourself. You just grew a tiny human and pushed it out of your body. It’s not going to bounce back overnight. But, again, don’t let anyone tell you that your vagina needs an extra stitch or won’t ever be the same. It will. Give it time.
What Does Loosen A Vagina?
A few specific things will make your vagina feel looser than normal. The truth is the vagina isn’t what causes the problem. It’s actually your pelvic floor. Pelvic floor muscles can loosen with things like repeated childbirth in a short time period (like 3 or more) or age.
It’s important to note that this is NOT your vagina being loose. This is an actual muscle that just changes over time. It has nothing to do with you having and enjoying a lot of sex.
You can also do kegels to help work on your pelvic floor muscles. Kegels can help tighten the muscles again and may change how your vagina feels too. Just make sure you’re doing it because you want to and not because someone has shamed or forced you into it.

Final Thoughts
The “loose vagina” myth is one that needs to die. It’s caused a lot of harm. You are allowed to enjoy sex as much as you want and shouldn’t be shamed for doing so. Just remember you know what’s up and ignore anyone who still believes this extremely old myth in the year of 2021.
